Class Accomplishments

  • One (1) National Merit Scholar, One (1) Semi-Finalist National Merit Scholar,  and One (1) National Merit Commended Scholar
  • Twenty-three (23) Oklahoma Academic Scholars
  • Over 160 scholarships offered to the graduates of 2011
  • Art - Five (5) senior AP portfolios were submitted, receiving two Scholastic Gold Key Awards and one Scholastic Silver Key Award
  • Art - Three (3) art students were awarded State Superintendent Awards of Arts Excellence
  • Art - Students won multiple awards at Brass Ring, Best of Show at the Genesis Competition as well as 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place, received Young Talent of Oklahoma awards, including Juror's Choice.  One (1) student received a Mayfest Young Artists Award as well as several students exhibited pieces of art at Gilcrease Museum.
  • Athletics - Cheerleading:  2011 Oklahoma State Academic Champions for 5A/6A Large Co-Ed Division, All-Region and All-State Cheerleader, Extreme Cheer Camp Champions in Chant, Jump, Dance, and received the Captain's Leadership Award
  • Athletics - Pom:  All-Region Pom Girl, Three (3) All-American UDA Summer Camp Pom Girls
  • Athletics - Seven (7) different sports teams competed in the state tournament with two third place finishes and one fourth place finish
  • Athletics - Student Athletes received three (3) baseball scholarships, one (1) cheer scholarship, one (1) football scholarship, one (1) girls soccer scholarship, one (1) boys tennis scholarship, and one (1) Pom scholarship
  • Athletics - Student Athletes named All-State in boys Track, boys Tennis, girls Soccer, boys Soccer, boys Cross Country, Cheerleading, 
  • Athletics - State Champions in Pom, boys and girls Cross Country, boys Tennis and boys Soccer and State Champion Runner-Up in girls Tennis
  • Athletics - District and Regional championships were earned by football, basketball, cross country, football, soccer, tennis and track
  • Art - Received the Mayfest Young Artists Grant worth $500 and a Senior student was the recipient of the John Sullivan Art Award and his work hung at the United States Capital for a year
  • Art - All AP Studio Art Portfolios passed, National and Oklahoma Scholastic Art Awards - 51 Gold and Silver Keys, Nine (9) Seniors received the Oklahoma State Superintendent Award of Arts Excellence, three students won the Sutton Natureworks Awards ($1,500, $750, and $500), Best of Show at the Oklahoma Camera Club, six (6) winners at the Oklahoma Camera Club, twelve (12) winners at the Air and Space Art Contest, seven (7) winners at the Young Talent of Oklahoma
  • Art -  Mrs. Vesanen was one of thirty-two art teachers nationwide selected to attend the Robert Rauschenberg Power of Art Workshop in Washington D.C.
  • Band - High School Band received Superior ratings at both the OSSAA District and State levels, two (2) high school students received Superior ratings in solo and ensemble competition at OSSAA, two (2) high school students were members of the NBDA Honor Band.
  • Band - Middle School and 6th Grade Bands received Superior ratings at the Trills and Thrills Band Festival, two (2) students received Super ratings in solo and ensemble competition at OSSAA, and four (4) students were members of the Junior High NBDA Honor Band.
  • Drama - Received 1st Place at OSSAA Regional One Act Competition, Four (4) students were All Star Cast Members at the regional "One Act" competition, one (1) student received the State Superintendent Fine Arts Award in Drama. Drama also received the Outstanding Tech Award at OSSAA Regional One Act Competition.
  • Drama - One student was selected to attend Quartz Mountain this coming summer for Theatre.
  • Drama - The Advanced Drama Class presented an evening of musical skits and performances entitled Heroes vs. Villians.  Although admission was free, all donations and proceeds were given to Metro Christian's sister school in Honduras, Senderos De Luz.
  • Choir - High School Choir received an excellent Ratings at Regional Contest, Two (2) ensembles and one (1) duet received Super Ratings at the State Solo and Ensemble Competition.
  • Service - The class of 2011 provided over 11,000 hours of service to their school, church and community
