
Diagnostic Instruction Center
The Diagnostic Instruction Center (DIC) is the department at Metro that is dedicated to providing a total educational plan to meet the learning needs of students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.
The DIC offers special class placement for a limited number of students who have professionally diagnosed learning disabilities. DIC services include providing Individual Education Plans (IEP) as needed. Elementary students can participate in Book Club to strengthen or remediate specific academic concerns. Students may enter the program as soon as a need arises and may exit as soon as the need is met. A monitoring program, including accommodations for students participating in regular classroom instruction is also available and includes a monitoring IEP. Study Lab is a secondary elective for students needing instruction in organizational skills, study skills, and test-taking skills. Psycho-Educational Testing is available to determine learning strengths and weaknesses and to diagnose learning differences. The program also offers tutoring services, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy.
MCA is committed to providing educational opportunities to all of its students. Since its inception, the DIC has assisted hundreds of students meet and surpass their academic aspirations. To date, the majority of graduates who received services through the DIC have gone on to have successful college experiences.
