Middle School Curriculum
Following a college preparatory model, rigorous standards are established with high expectations for each student. Middle school students are offered Honors courses in English, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Physical Science to help prepare them for the challenging curriculum they will encounter in high school. In addition to basic courses, middle school students are introduced to the fine arts through visual art, drama, instrumental music, and choir.
All middle school teachers are trained in Great Expectations which is grounded in the belief that all students can learn. The goal of the middle school is to discover the gifts and abilities that the Lord has given each student and to challenge the student to develop those gifts to their fullest potential.
More than forty percent of seventh graders, scoring at least 95%, qualified for the Duke University Talent Identification program, which focuses on the identification, recognition, and support of high-performing students. The Presidents Education Awards is a national program that was developed to recognize and honor those students who have achieved high academic goals by their hard work and dedication to learning.

Spiritual Curriculum
6th Grade – The Life of Christ
The study of the life of Christ is foundational to a middle school student’s understanding of Scripture. Jesus Christ is the focal point of all history, and He is the fulfillment of Old Testament hopes. He is the source of all New Testament revelation and expectation. In our study we will deal with the major events in the life of Christ. We begin with the events at the birth of our Lord and the early parts of His ministry. Then we will deal with some of the more prominent themes of His teaching. Finally, we return to a more chronological approach toward the end of our Lord’s earthly ministry, focusing upon His last week of ministry. An emphasis will be placed on each student’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
7th Grade – Old Testament Survey
The purpose of this study is to help students understand God through history and to build knowledge of God and the Bible to help them ultimately develop a Biblical world view. An emphasis will be placed on cultivation of a personal relationship with God through Christ. A combination of Bible knowledge, Biblical principles, Bible study skills and Biblical application will be emphasized by leading students through the "stories” of the Old Testament. Students will be encouraged to understand God’s desire for a relationship with mankind and His provision for restoration of that relationship through Christ.
8th Grade – New Testament Survey
The purpose of this study is to reveal the New Testament as the "New Covenant” or the new arrangement of God with men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation who will accept salvation on the basis of faith in Christ. The New Testament is a record of historical events, the "good news” events of the saving life of the Lord Jesus Christ – His life, death, resurrection, ascension, and the continuation of His work in the world. It is also the fulfillment of those events long anticipated by the Old Testament writers. It is sacred history which was written under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It possesses Divine authority for the church today and throughout human history until the Lord Himself returns. The central theme of the New Testament is Salvation through Christ alone.
