Early Childhood

Our K4 and Kindergarten programs are designed to give students a strong academic foundation that is developmentally and age-appropriate. All children are screened and learning centers provide for the various developmental needs of children in fine motor, language development, number concepts, science, social studies, listening skills, socialization skills and reading readiness. Our students learn through a unit approach. They are presented a letter per week and units are created that facilitate the use of that letter through appropriate learning centers. Students are given opportunities for enrichment through regularly scheduled classes such as computers, motor skills, Spanish, music and library. Teachers also incorporate art and creativity as a part of each unit and infuse Scripture memory, Bible lessons, prayer and praise throughout each week.

Metro Christian Academy also provides the following learning opportunities that specifically target common health and wellness issues effecting youth today. Our intent is to join with parents in helping children learn the information and skills necessary to navigate safely through the schooling years and develop the tools necessary to live a long, productive, healthy life.

  • Children are taught basic concepts of nutrition through weekly units. Nationally accepted guidelines for nutrition are introduced and healthy foods are promoted with snacks and lunch discussions.
  • Self-care, hygiene, and safety are promoted in daily activities i.e., hand washing. Respiratory hygiene is reinforced individually and in groups.
  • Body Awareness Education focuses on the five senses and general body parts.
  • During Community Helpers' Week children are introduced to Health Care Workers and learn roles in keeping people healthy and safe.
  • The Second Steps Program (instructed by the elementary counselor) focuses on healthy communication of feelings, knowing safe people, and learning about positive treatment of others.
