Metro Christian Academy also provides the following learning opportunities that specifically target common health and wellness issues effecting youth today.  Our intent is to join with parents in helping children learn the information and skills necessary to navigate safely through the schooling years and develop the tools necessary to live a long, productive healthy life.
  • The KEEP (Kids Eagerly Endorsing Purity) Program is provided both in eighth and ninth grade Bible classes.  The ninth grade classes are less didactic thus providing for a more open dialogue.  Focus is placed on relationships, understanding God's intention for sex in marriage, and laying a strong biblical foundation for a healthy marriage.
  • Metro's board approved a drug policy where every student is tested yearly and is subject to random testing throughout the year.
  • Special speakers during chapel provide opportunities for students to learn about social issues that impact youth.  In addition all Metro Christian high school students meet in small groups regularly with a staff sponsor in their advisory. Topics in this small group discussion may include harassment, alcohol and drug use, abuse, and testing.  Biblical standards for living and how they apply to the individual's life are also addressed.
  • Science provides numerous opportunities for our teachers to teach and promote health and wellness in a biblical framework.  From understanding the causes and prevention strategies of viruses and bacterial infections to how the body functions when healthy, our teachers take full advantage of relaying how wonderful and intricate God has created us.
  • Metro's  Freshman Leadership Academy is an opportunity to inform, instruct, and set clear expectations for our incoming ninth graders.  During this special retreat there are ample opportunities for students to perform trust building exercises, experience goal setting, and actual consequences of choices, as well as develop class unity and spirit.  In addition, information regarding how to develop and maintain healthy relationships is discussed.
