Metro Announces Oklahoma Academic Scholars for the 2009.10 School Year

The graduating class of 2009.10 will have a 20% (17 out of 86) qualify as Oklahoma Academic Scholars. These students will be recognized by the State Superintendent of Instruction in a celebration to be held this spring at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

The State of Oklahoma recognizes graduating seniors who meet the following criteria as Oklahoma Academic Scholars:

• Accumulate over Grades 9, 10, 11, and the first semester of Grade 12, a minimum grade point average of 3.7 on a four-point scale or be in the top 10 percent of their graduating class.

• Complete 22 units for graduation which consist of at least: 4 units of English, 3 units of Math, 3 units of Science, and 3 units of Social Studies.

• Achieve a composite of 27 on the Act or 1180 combined score on the SAT. The ACT or SAT must have been taken on a national test date before the date of graduation.

Students recognized as Oklahoma Academic Scholars receive a certificate of recognition, a gold sear affixed to their diploma, and the honor recorded on the official transcript. At the State Superintendent’s celebration they will receive an Oklahoma Academic Scholar lapel pin.
