Our preschool programs are designed to give students a strong academic foundation that is developmentally and age-appropriate. We desire to provide each child with a loving, creative, and stimulating environment for building a strong foundation for excellence as they transition to Kindergarten. The classroom experience provides teacher-led activities that include whole group, small group, and one-on-one instruction. God’s word is the foundation and common thread woven throughout the early childhood program.
Our students learn through a unit approach. They are presented one letter per week and units are created that facilitate the use of that letter through appropriate learning centers that focus on fine motor, language development, number concepts, science, social studies, listening skills, socialization skills, and reading readiness.
Students are given opportunities for enrichment through regularly scheduled classes and activities that include music, art, STEM, library, Spanish, motor skills, recess, and weekly Chapel.
At Metro Christian Academy, our elementary school learning standards are clearly articulated and aligned, both horizontally and vertically. This ensures that every young scholar receives a consistent education in every classroom, regardless of teacher. Learning objectives flow seamlessly from introductory through mastery, with each grade level building upon the work of the previous year’s study without duplication or inconsistency.
Our elementary curriculum emphasizes mathematics, science, history/social studies, language arts, foreign language, STEM, fine arts, Bible, physical education, and library skills. Students attend weekly chapel where they are given the opportunity for corporate worship and devotion with emphasis on character traits and scripture application.
